It seemed solid enough when we first saw it. We took the old ship’s anchor that was chained to the house, to be a rather interesting yard decoration. Chatting over the paperwork, the previous owners asked if we liked surprises. “Oh, indeed!” we responded immediately, our minds focused on moving in. They chuckled, signed and the house was ours. To our astonishment and delight, we discovered that our house liked to float gently above the ground. Whenever it rises, the doors lock automatically so that we’re safe. When we ask it to land, it softly settles onto its foundation. One day soon, we plan to see what may happen if we unhook the anchor!
