Heidi Jill Price: I've been a fiber addict since 1997, when my husband got me my first spinning wheel as a surprise birthday present. That gift literally changed my world. I'm a spinner, dyer, knitter and weaver ~ what I call a "Certified Fiber Rebel", as I strive to retain my "beginner's mind" and look for new possibilities.
I personally dye all my roving and yarn at Silverhill Studio, my home studio on lovely Whidbey Island, about 30 miles northwest of Seattle, Washington. Most of my colors are small batch blends using two or more base colors of high quality, environmentally friendly dyes.
I purposely dye my yarn using small, random color blocks to avoid striping and pooling. As a result, no two skeins will be exactly alike. However, if they are dyed in the same batch, the colors should be the same - it's just the placement of the color that may vary.
On most rovings, colors are placed and layered, leaving white space that allows the fiber to "Fibermorph" into yarn with depth and light when spun. I use several different color placement techniques ~ see item descriptions for information on that!
If you would like multiple skeins or rovings in the same colorway, please let me know.
I also sell undyed spinning fiber. If you are looking for a fiber that I haven't listed, let me know through "Conversations" or at fibermorphosis [!at] gmail.com - I may have it in stock or be able to get it for you!
